History
West Central Minnesota Communities Action, Inc. (WCMCA) was established in 1965 as part of the national war on poverty and is one of approximately 1,000 community action programs nationwide that make up the service delivery arm of the federal Office of Economic Opportunity.
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Action Program, WCMCA is deeply committed to working collaboratively to address community needs and challenges by building upon local community assets.
Service Area
WCMCA is located in Elbow Lake, MN and serves low income households primarily in Douglas, Grant, Pope, Stevens and Traverse counties in West Central Minnesota.
We Currently have 111 staff assisting 5,000 low-income residents at locations in Elbow Lake, Alexandria, and Moorhead MN. Energy Assistance programming extends to Clay and Wilkin Counties, and Head Start includes classrooms in Ottertail and Wadena Counties.
