Head Start Food Service Lead – Fergus Falls, MN

Primary Responsibilities

To assist the Family Education Specialist with meal service

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Must be 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Interest and experience in working with young children.
  • Ability to exercise patience and understanding when working with children.
  • Meet minimum standards per Head Start Performance Standards and Minnesota Rule 3 Licensing
  • Ability to follow instructions, good oral communication skills.
  • Proof of valid driver’s license and current/adequate vehicle insurance coverage
  • Meet physical abilities: must be able to lift 50 lbs.; and daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs.

 

Preferred

  • General knowledge of the Head Start program.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diverse backgrounds and cultures

Essential Functions

  1. As member of center team, participate in center operations.
  2. Order food and supplies, and prepare for the service of breakfast and lunch, parent meeting meals, and child food experiences.
  3. Communicate with caterer to ensure the food program standards and contract expectations are met.
  4. Communicate with other staff and take action to meet the nutritional needs and feeding requirements of all children.
  5. Implement the special diets and supplemental food plans.
  6. Ensure that kitchen and eating areas are clean, sanitized and properly stocked (ie. paper products, supplemental food, backup, cleaning products, gloves).
  7. Substitute for the teacher aide as assigned or when necessary.
  8. Carry out the mission of WCMCA.
  9. Knowledge and ability to carry out the Head Start Performance Standards and Minnesota Rule 3 Licensing and other regulations that relate to Head Start.
  10. Keep immediate supervisor informed of all problems, unusual or extraordinary matters of significance coming to his/her attention, so that prompt corrective action can be taken as needed.
  11. All other duties as assigned by supervisor, including participation in Agency and program committees.
