Free Tax Preparation
About the Program
WCMCA operates a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinic starting at the beginning of February through mid-April each year that provides free tax preparation services to income eligible MN residents. Volunteer tax preparers have been provided required training and have passed IRS testing for VITA certification. Each year, our volunteers assist hundreds of low-income, working families secure their tax credits which in turn provides an economic boom to our local community!

Eligibility Information:
MN residents filing Jointly with less than $69,001 gross annual income will qualify. MN residents filing Single or Head of Household, or Married Filing Separately with less than $50,001 gross annual income will qualify. As a VITA site, we cannot prepare taxes for those who own a business or worked as a full-time independent contractor.

This model allows you to prepare your own federal and state returns online for free! An IRS-Certified preparer is available to help you with any tax law questions via phone or email in a timely manner. How To Apply
After January 15th, 2026, call 320-391-4232 to schedule an appointment and to request a tax informational packet. Prior to your appointment, complete the Intake Form (13614-C), (link opens in new browser tab; please print this form, then fill it out, please do not fill out online) and bring all applicable paperwork/documentation from the What to Bring Checklist Form (link opens in new browser tab) the day of your in-person or drop-off appointment.
