Weatherization Program
About the Program
The Weatherization Program helps income eligible households cut their heating costs and improve the comfort level of their homes by making energy-saving home improvements. Improvements to be made are determined from the energy auditor’s blower door testing equipment at your home. Items may include furnace improvements; minimize infiltration; insulation of attic, walls, and floor; and venting of water heaters and heating systems.
Eligibility Information
The program is available to homeowners, renters, those living in mobile homes as well as other types of homes, and low-income residents of Clay, Douglas, Grant, Norman, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin Counties who qualify for the Energy Assistance Program. The Weatherization Program is required to implement a priority system which includes the elderly, handicapped, high energy consumers, and households with small children. These targeted groups are the first to receive weatherization services.
Application Details
The Weatherization Program is accessed through the Energy Assistance Application. Households who received Energy Assistance in 2022-2023 will automatically receive a 2023-2024 application in the mail from the Minnesota Department of Commerce and new applicants may download the application or apply with the full service online application.
